As a Destination wedding planner, this destination wedding at Sand Valley Golf Resort in Nekoosa, Wisconsin was one of the most meaningful and memorable celebrations I have had the privilege to design. The couple, who call New York City home, chose to bring family and friends together from across the United States at a place that holds deep personal significance, especially for the bride, a semi-professional golfer whose family owns a home on one of the resort’s renowned courses. In a first-of-its-kind celebration for the property, the couple reserved the entire resort, creating an exclusive and highly personalized wedding weekend experience for their guests. Their outdoor ceremony took place against a breathtaking backdrop of rolling dunes, championship golf courses, and vibrant autumn foliage, with thoughtfully designed florals that perfectly complemented the natural landscape rather than competing with it. As the sun set over the Wisconsin countryside, guests gathered in the resort’s main lodge for an intimate candlelit dinner, where long reception tables were layered with hundreds of flickering candles and warm seasonal blooms, creating an atmosphere that felt both elegant and inviting. Later in the evening, the celebration transitioned into a tented reception where the bride surprised guests with a second dress and the live band kept the dance floor packed well into the night. Every detail of this luxury destination wedding was tailored specifically to the couple’s story, making it a beautiful reflection of their love, their families, and the place that has shaped so many of their favorite memories.
